02:46 pm: Im finally done for the year and home for the break!
The snow kept me at home all day which was a nice forced break...I work ALL the time!!

Over the break I work full time hours but I still have some fun things planned :)
I really love my job!!

Just finnished reading New Moon (2nd book in the Twilight series)...hopefully I get to the 3rd soon! Never thought Id like vampires and warewolves...but I find myself really enjoying these books.

Ive decided to send out Christmas cards this year...we'll see how far I get with those :P

I sorta wish I lived somewhere where it didnt snow...ever....but then again, it can be very pretty...

Ive decided its about time to start Christmas shoping...so I better get to making that list...

09:15 pm: Soooooo busy these days....I sorta managed to get myself into quite a lot of work lol

I work at Big Brothers Big Sisters 4 days a week (actually its volounteer cause its placement BUT Im like a frigen junior staff with a caseload and shit)...Im starting to faciliate meetings and groups and Im going to be helping supervise high school students who are doing their stage with us and Im going to be an in-school mentor and checking up on matches and doing interviews...ahhh...so much!

I work at least 3 shifts at that group home a week....but thats awesome cause I LOVE that job insanely so much!! I miss the kids when Im not in during the week :(...I was there 24/7 during the summer so its a huge change now...its like going through camp withdrawl hehe

Im also geting into the swing of things with planning the Nunavut trip...I have a sleepover @ the Biodome in November to go to with the kids...kinda like a meet-and-greet so we can get to know eahcother before we leave....Im excited about that!

On top of that I have a wedding to attend...and school work to finnish...and possibly a social life...and Im getting a kitten tonight (10 month old kitten who was gona be put down if no one took her)....soooo much lol....but I have a theory that if I wasnt busy Id go insane!

Oh and I started my applications to grad school for a masters in Social Work because as of April Im qualified to actually start being one...how scary is that! So we shall see where that leads in the next few months...(Im also applying to get a certificate in Mental Health and Addictions Counselling)...

till then!...hopefully I dont go insane...

02:56 pm: finally got a placement!! (with Big Brothers/Big Sisters)
figured out all my school shit so I can actually graduate in April :)
Work is going really well!! (I love feeling like Im actually making some kind of difference in a kid's life....even though they tend to frustrate me to no end....working with guys is so much easier than working with girls...none of that girly BS to deal with!)
Got a new phone :D...pretty sweet phone actually!

And...Im spending all weekend at the fair and watching cars crash into eachother Saturday night....I think its absolutely halarious how the biggest event that the entire town turns up to happens once a year and consists of a bunch of cars crashing into eachother for 4 hours...lol

So...La Ronde next Wednesday with the Kids...Kingston Thursday with more kids...Friday shopping in Syracuse with a friend and then its my weekend....packed weeks I tell ya!

06:51 pm: I can't wait for this weekend and next week!

This weekend consists of visiting camp! and next week Im going to Gaspe (which I absolutely adore!) with my parents to open up the house for the summer :)

I cant wait to see the ocean again, the mountains, the sunsets and wildlife (bears on the back porch anyone?)...maybe I'll even be able to convince my mom to come whale watching with me...doubtful, since we've only be thousands of times hehe

But seriously, this place is absolutely amazing...theres nothing like being somewhere so out of touch with the rest of the world that they have practically no cell phone reception, internet is hard to come across and they fly the news paper in a day late...so Monday they get Sundays news. I would never live there even though I so could if I chose to...I like my cell phone and the internet lol...but for a week or so in the summer its amazing!

Anyways, I cant wait to go on vacation....I work too much for my own good...but at least it keeps me busy!

Good question....

I still work...even though I'd much rather be at camp for the summer....I'll suck it up, make some money, go on vacation and all that fun stuff...and find one next year :)...I'm leaning on Weredale...(its nice to be able to buy regular summer clothes and flip flops though!)

Spent all weekend @ work outside with the girls and got the worlds most painful burn...hurts so much I cant even sleep...ugh

However,

Got some fun stuff planned with ppl in Mtl this summer, some visiting New Brunswick and Chelsea!!! and some Gaspe visits to get done :)

...turning 21 in less than 2 weeks :D

and Im taking kids from work camping!!!!!...Im so excited!....I was so surprised that theres only 3 staff that said theyd go...they all feel "it would be too hard camping with group home children"....I say stick them in the woods for 6 weeks and show them how its done!....awh camp :(

other than that, not much is going on...lifes life...
Got offered a placement @ Childrens Aid that I had to turn down due to timing :(
But I had an awesome interview @ the Childrens Hospital today, which I hope works out...
If not, I have an interview @ an alcohol and drug rehab center next week...

Thats really the only thing stressing me out right now...I need to find a placement and I need to do it soon!....

08:54 pm: Had an awesome past few days :)
Spent Thursday in Montreal with Lauren looking for dresses for a wedding and shopping, met up with Suzie, Deidre and Frankie...tons of fun!...who knew some ppl have some pretty awesome fashion sense lol...more so than myself at least :P....went to the lookout, so pretty....I forget how much I miss Montreal sometimes.
Pretty psyched to apply to McGill and get a job in the city....my moms also pretty happy...I think she likes the idea of me being around.
Went out with the roomate and some friends Friday night...visited my grand parents saturday and spent some time at home.

I musta caught some kind of sickness from someone at work...I hate colds!
However, life must go one.
I go for my last road test this weekend...hopefully that works out!
I also have an interview @ the childrens hospital nxt week for a placement :D

1 year left! I cant wait! Its about time...Ottawa's getting old already :P

Work's busy but Ive managed to put all my spare time to good use.
I even visited the tulip festival this morning when I got home at 8:30 (mostly to avoid all the drunk ppl passed out in my apartment...but either way). T'was pretty but I mean....how long can a person really stare at flowers for anyways?

Gotta go home tomorrow and get the car fixed...again...brother's idiotic friend broke it....ah well...t'is free...just a waste of time, that's all.

Weekend was fun, Mtl was fun!...must go back sometime soon...the distilery was quite the party!!! (Irish Embassy, not so much :P )

Summer 2008 is going to be awesome!!
My 1st summer spent away from camp in 4 years, I just might go through withdrawl, but it will all work out, I know it will!
Ive already started my residency that I will keep until August and Ive been spending a lot of time at work, but I LOVE my job so its not too bad at all! (except that I totally dont want to be a social worker anymore)...having a job thats like camp all yr round has been amazing!
The people I work with are amazing to work with and spend time with outside of work.
Went out Saturday night and had an amazing time...hadn't been that drunk since that night out this past summer, and it was so much fun!

Going to visit Chelsea in Fredericton sometime in July, going to meet the parents in Gaspe for a week at the begining of August, some roadtrips are in the works as well :)

Actually going to Mtl on the 9th of May to see some ppl which Im really looking 4ward to...its been way too long! Then the birthday just around the corner!!

Its so nice to be so close to being done school...1 year left...then I can take a break from the school thing....cant wait!!!

Until then living in Ottawa is going to be just fine, I can tell....things just keep getting better and better! Only one thing missing but hell...that'll come in time.
Maybe Ill take a class over the summer....but prolly not....dont really feel like being bothered to do so.

Finally landed a position at work that will make me some money and its practically like camp, so that makes me happy!

11:12 pm: My placement supervisor has been on me for a long time because she thinks I do too much...
But today my liason totally bit into me because she asked if I ever "have fun" and I basically told her that I don't (at least in the "going out and seeing friends" aspect)...
How can I when my only days off are Mondays and wednesdays(sometimes)....My schedule looks something like:

Monday - staff meeting @ the house
Tuesday - gone all day (8am-8:30pm)
Wednesday - DAY OFF (possible shift @ work 3-11:30pm)
Thursday - gone all day (8am-8:30pm)
Friday - class 8am-11:30am - work @ 3-11pm + overnight
Saturday - work 8am-12pm + 4pm-12am + overnight
Sunday - 8am-12pm + 4pm-12am + overnight on occasion

I am a social work student, I don't sleep, eat or socialize....lol
Thank god I LOVE my job and the ppl who I work with, same goes for placement!
Only 1 1/2 yrs left and then maybe I can have a life again!
Until then, if u wana do something, schedule it with me 2 months in advance so I can request time off lmao....how lame is that!

the group home job is going great so far! I absolutely love it :)
I finally had my last restraint training last night and then spent the next 2 hours at a house for backup which was completely un-eventful...booooring lol

worked a 8am-4pm shift today at my own house and of course, just cause I can now, I got to put my restraint training into practice...but the girl was so squirmy she managed to nail me hard in the face with her foot and actually made my nose bleed...poor nose....but how it happened was really funny though :P

I do one more week of random shift work and then I start my regular shifts (friday overnights, saturday 1 shift during the day, saturday overnights and sunday 1 shift during the day)....so there goes any possibility of a social life! haha

I got some days off around xmas but not many...I need money to pay for Mexico anyways so Im not too upset.

But ya, lifes good, schools good and work is going great! Now all I need to do is start contacting Batshaw again...

10:09 pm: Its been a few months since Ive last updated this and itll prolly be the last for a very long time...Its hard to find time to breath, let alone free time to do this lol
This summer was very sad yet amazing all in one....weird I know.
Prolly the worst moments and best moments ever had in a summer, all mushed into one if thats makes any sense.

Now that school has started its back to life - sans camp :(
3 classes, 2 days of placement 9-5pm and a social life when time allows lol

Life's been crazy!
I can't wait for thanksgiving...maybe things will let up by then....but prolly not....I wont get my hopes up!
I look 4ward to weekends spent in mtl and at home!! (mooching groceries off the parentals is awesome!! haha)

But until then, I will enjoy the next 4 days of non-stop action...(placement, soccer game, football, birthdays, visitors...homework and exam studying :S ) Woot!!!

05:42 pm: So the past 2 days were awesome!
The staff meeting on Saturday was a lot of fun....camp looks like its going to be run by practically all girls this summer lol
A lot of the new staff also seemed really nice and a lot of fun!!
Saturday night was also awesome....pizza hut and a brownie(which are to die for!! Even Gen, Benny and Shauna agreed with me on that one...concensus(sp?) man!!)....then drinks and from what I can remember(which is everything except for the ride to lauras!) I think Ive improved my football throwing skills, or started my football throwing skills haha...
I also managed to keep Robin up till 4am...which so wasnt on purpose, I just had a lot to say I gues :P....I will forever be extremely sorry lmao

Today was so much fun though!
The LIT meeting went wonderfully without any issues what so ever!
Talking in front of everyone on 4 hrs of sleep, not so much fun...but none the less it was awesome!
Hung out with the kids and parents, did some workshops with them as a group(parents and kids together) with one minor thing that really upset me (not completely livejournal worthy)...seriously, almost to the verge of tears it was so sad!...I just need to think of something to do about it!!!...and I will!!!...Im making it one of my summer goals!!

Then we got rid of the parents and hung out with just the kids all afternoon...was so awesome!! Gen, shauna, benny and myself just fooled around with them for three hours...we played games, ran round, talked A LOT and did one workshop! Guess u coulda called it an intiation to CAM for Benny lol
A lot of the kids are kids I already knew...a lot of them are awesome kids too!! Im excited!!! Especially since quite a few of my girls are already asking if they can help out with cabins and if we can have movie nights and spa nights and stuff...itll be fun!!!
Also...old staff...A LOT of the kids asked about u guys! Georgie made me walk him to the metro and list ALL the staff that was comming back...hes so sweet that kid!!!
They all say Hi and send their excitement for the summer!!!

But all in all this weekend rocked!!!
Im definately excited for the summer!!!
And I really hope all goes as well as I think it will!!!
